A-Bomb Nightclub is the fourth mission in SWAT 4 and the seventh mission in SWAT: Elite Force. The SWAT team must secure a nightclub after a heavy firefight broke out between two gangs. Due to the ongoing firefight within the building, the team must enters as soon as possible with limited intel.

Mission Briefing[]

We're being called up for a rapid deployment at an ongoing shots fired situation at the A-Bomb nightclub. At least four gunmen, likely more, are exchanging shots with each other. They don't appear to be actively attacking civilians, or attempting to hold hostages, although we have reports that there are multiple wounded victims from crossfire. Witness reports are confused, and in some cases conflicting.

We have both Caucasian and Hispanic shooters, shooting along racial lines. All of them appear to be young adult males.

We have two possible entries: the front door, past the ticket booth, and a back alley loading zone. We have a rough sketch of the layout from an off-duty bartender; give it a once over, but don't trust it too much.

Most of the patrons made it out; however, there are still civilians holed up in there. We know some of them are wounded from witness reports. The perimeter is still reporting sporadic gunfire inside, and the paramedics won't go in until we've cleared the building. You need to get in there and bring order to chaos by locating and arresting the gunmen. In addition, you need to locate and secure for evacuation all remaining civilians, especially the wounded. Review the information, choose your entry, and get your gear together. It's time to go to work.

Timeline[]

  • 23:27: Shots fired; 911 Calls - First 911 calls logged reporting shooting at the club. SWAT notified.
  • 23:30: Perimeter established - Patrol Units arrive on scene and begin to set up a perimeter and perform first aid on initial victims. Patrol radios for ambulances.
  • 23:42: SWAT arrives - SWAT arrives on scene. Due to ongoing live fire, SWAT immediately goes tactical to neutralize the situation.

Entries and Snipers []

The nightclub offers two entry points. The primary entry point is through the service entrance. It provides the entry team a harder initial challenge, as they have to clear the stage or the upstairs area to proceed. After those sections are cleared, however, the challenge of the level is reduced. The secondary entry point is the front entrance. It is initially easier than the service entrance, but as the team proceeds, they will encounter stiffer suspect resistance as they proceed, specially at the stage and upstairs area.

Only one sniper is set up on this operation. Sierra 1 is covering a storage room on side 4 that can contain patrolling suspects.

Map Layout[]

Given the chaotic nature of this scenario, the intel provided on this map is incomplete while containing several errors as well. In terms of the missing data, the intel completely omits the offices, the storage room and the stage near the club front entrance plus the second floor lounge. In terms of errors, the sketch is created with the side 2 facing the bottom of the page as oppose to the side 1, while suggesting that the stair ways and the lounges do not exist behind the main stage on side 3.

This building is like any other nightclubs. On the ground floor there is a rather big main stage with DJ podium where the teenagers and young adults can dance and listen to the live music. Next to the main stage is a small room apparently for band members where they could rest for a while between the concerts. Not far from the main stage is an additional but much smaller stage which is connected to a bar, so the customers could have something to drink while listetning to the music. The stages are connected by hallway that leads to the restrooms, another bar, a small shop that sells T-shirts and other accessories and two offices. One of the offices belongs to the owner of the club while the other one is for the employees. Also, at the back of the club located on side 4 is a large storage room which is connected to the bars. On the ground floor on side 1 is the front entrance to the club as well as the rear service entrance for employees only located on side 2. On the second floor there is a lounge with sofas, refrigerators with cold drinks and windows overlooking the main stage. The interior of the lounge resembles a long twisted hallway with several hard corners and it is decorated with a war plane theme so there are multiple pictures with planes and pilots. Also, there are a lot of posters with bands and colorful lamps and reflectors are everywhere within the club.

Tactical Approach[]

Despite the mission description, the suspects do not fire upon each other and will team up against the SWAT team. They are mostly armed with pistols and machine pistols, but they do not wear any protections.

The service entrance entry point is the preferable choice, as the team only has to cover one door and a hallway, as opposed to the three doors and a hallway that suspects can use to converge on the SWAT team from the front entrance entry point.

Most of the rooms in the nightclub have more than one entry points, making it essential to either wedge doors (or lock them as in the case of the SWAT: Elite Force) to prevent suspects from retreating and ambushing the entry team in other locations. The main tension zones are the stage area, which can be accessed from the primary entry point. There are usually two to three suspects in this room with civilians, which means that the room must be entered with great shock and speed to prevent the suspects from killing civilians, and stop them if they try to. The second tension zone is the second floor lounge, which can be easily defended by the suspects hiding in the middle of the room which the two entry points have no clear visibility into. The team must enter and deploying grenades on both ends simultaneously to subdue the suspects. CS Gas is preferable, as it can work around corners and buy team time to use other less-lethal methods to subdue them.

This mission features many incapacitated civilians. On SWAT: Elite Force version of this mission, these civlians are bleeding out, and the team must find them and report them to TOC in around 10-15 minutes. Failure to report the civlians will mean some of them will turn into DOAs, which results in forfeiting the "All civilians unharmed" score bonus. Rapid, controlled movements are necessary to find and report all the civilians.

Changes in Elite Force[]

  • Incapacitated civilians can bleed out and become DOA if not reported in time, which results in forfeiting the "All civilians unharmed" score bonus.
  • Suspects now have a 75% chance to spawn as low skilled, as oppose to a 50% chance in the vanillia game. They also start to carry the Desert Eagle pistol.
  • All civilians on this map have their morale raised so that they will be very stubborn when encountering police officers. Coincidentally, small drug packs can also be collected in the club's toilets for extra points.
  • Depending on the area where the doorway is found, respective "Make Entry" commands are assigned.
  • This mission unlocks the Riot Helmet.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the fact that the briefing implies that there is a firefight going on inside the building, and gunshots can be heard when sweeping the area, no suspects actually fire on each other during this mission. Almost all civilians are spawned in an incapacitated state, and the gunshots are sound effects to give the situation a sense of urgency.
