FunTime Amusements is the first mission in SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate and the fourth mission in SWAT: Elite Force. The SWAT team is tasked with stopping a gang war at the FunTime Amusement Arcade where a drug deal between Stetchkov Syndicate members and another gang lead by Javier Arias has gone awry. Oscar Bogard, the owner of the establishment, has placed the 911 call, and it is up to the player to rescue him and other civilians on the arcade's premises.

Mission Briefing[]

Okay, listen up. We've got a shots fired situation. 911 received a call from the owner of the FunTime Amusement Arcade on Gower Street. Detectives from the 12th precinct tell us that the arcade is a known haunt for drug dealers. Witnesses say an argument broke out between Javier Arias, a local dealer and a group of unidentified men. It quickly escalated into violence when Arias' offsiders drew their guns. Looks like we could have a turf war on our hands.

Most of the civilians fled as soon as the shooting started, but some may still be inside. This is a busy arcade at this time of the day, so check your targets. The police are also pretty unpopular in this neighbourhood, so be prepared for resistance from any civilians you encounter.

We've been unable to locate the owner, Oscar Bogard. He may still be trapped inside. His 911 call was cut off abruptly.

We have to put a stop to the shooting, but this is also a chance to put away a lot of bad guys. To do that we need to gain as much evidence as we can. We don't want any of them to flush the drugs they're carrying, particularly Arias.

Choose your equipment and get going.

Timeline[]

  • 16:26: 911 Call - 911 call from owner of Funtime Amusements, reporting shots fired. Dispatch notifies emergency services. SWAT notified.
  • 16:33: First units arrive - Patrol Units arrive on scene and begin to set up a perimeter. Patrol radios for ambulances.
  • 16:51: Tactical entry begun - SWAT arrives on scene and makes immediate tactical entry.

Entries and Snipers[]

There are two entry locations outside of the building: one is the escape door which is close to the first floor restrooms on the side 2, while the other one is the service entrance which is close to the second floor restroom and Bogard's apartment on side 4. Both entry locations are connected via the backyard on side 3, and it contains the back door entrance to the building.

Two snipers are setup on this mission. Sierra 1 is covering the backyard area, and Sierra 2 is covering the billiards room, which is next to a restroom that the suspects may flush drugs in. Snipers are very valuable as both areas are often covered by difficult suspects and multiple civilians.

Map Layout[]

Given the urgent nature of the scenario, the intel provided on this map only provides a rough idea on the locations of the various rooms while ignoring key details like the arrangement of the arcade machines that divides the rooms into mazes. More importantly, the layout of the owner's living area, the repair workshops, the side alleyways and the backyard are completely omitted.

FunTime Amusements is a two story building filled with many games providing entertainment for everyone such as arcade games, pinballs, billiards and many others. The ground floor consists of main entrance on side 1, two big game rooms, a corridor with restrooms located on side 2 and employee only locations such as the workshop and the owner's apartment located on side 3. Also there are four entrances into the building, the front door on side 1, the escape door on side 2, entrance to Bogard's apartement on side 3 and the service entrance on side 4. The biggest game room contains many arcade games which all of them are set in two rows. Apart from them there are also two pinball machines and one air hockey machine. There is also a ticket office where customers could pay for time spent in the arcade as well as buy something to drink. There is also door that leads to owner's apartment. Overall saying this part of arcade is colored in purple and red thanks to colored bulbs. Additionally this room has an overlooking balcony on the second floor. The smaller room contains one air hockey in "red part" and several pinball machines in "blue part" (named so due to the lighting in the sections). The corridor next to this room contains restrooms and stairs to second floor. Also on the ground floor, there is also a workshop filled with broken down machines that are waiting to be repaired. Also, the owner's apartment is rather poorly furnished, since there is only a bedroom and kitchen. The second floor contains a balcony from which the customers can look at the lower level of the main game room. There is also another game room, a restroom and a billiards room. The game room is very similar to the previous ones: it contains a set of arcade games and pinball machines. The billiards room contains two big billiards tables as well as several stools on which the customers could sit and observe the game. Also there are another stairs that leads to the apartment's kitchen. It's worth mentioning that the whole interior of the arcade is illuminated by multicolored lights, reflectors and bulbs.

Tactical Approach[]

Despite the mission description, the suspects do not fire upon each other and will team up against the SWAT team. Suspects on this map are armed with shotguns, submachine guns, machine pistols and pistols. They are not equiped with any protections.

Given that there is a gallery in the center of the building, it is advised not to go there first due to the fact that the arcade machines have turned the gallery into a maze. Therefore, the player should instead climb upstairs in order to flush out the suspects from there. The player should also wedge some of the doors in the upstairs area, because it may arouse suspicion when yelling for compliance.

Drug flusher suspects are present on this mission, and they will either rush the second floor restroom on side 4 or the first floor restrooms on side 2. It is recommended not to rush to intercept them as the player can easily be ambushed in both spots. In SWAT: Elite Force, the penalties for flushed drugs are completely removed, so the player do not need to prioritize them even if they rush the restroom areas.

Changes in Elite Force[]

  • Incapacitated civilians can bleed out and become DOA if not reported in time, which results in forfeiting the "All civilians unharmed" score bonus.
  • Cardiac arrest risk is prevalent on this mission. All the civilian patrons, Oscar Bogard and Javier Arias now have a 5% chance of suffering cardiac arrest. Drug flushers have their risk doubled to 10%.
  • Drug flusher suspect type is now made polite i.e. less likely to shoot civilians.
  • The suspects now carry MP5KA4 Machine Pistol instead of UMP SMG in their loadouts.
  • Javier Arias's max morale has been lowered.
  • All civilians' morale have been raised to be resistant to shout for compliance. This is to fit the mission briefing suggesting that the neighborhood does not trust police and that drug dealing is frequent at the location.
  • This mission unlocks the Respirator and the MP5SD6 SMG instead of the Cobra Stun Gun.
