Victory Imports Auto Center is the fifth mission in SWAT 4 as well as in SWAT: Elite Force. The SWAT team is tasked with dealing with a failed car theft at a car workshop that has turned into a barricaded suspects situation. A mechanic named Gary Altman has also gone missing after he dialed 911 and it is up to the player to locate him.

Mission Briefing[]

Here's what we've got. We are needed for rapid deployment at 29th and Arlington, the Victory Imports Auto Garage. Looks like a botched vehicle theft has turned into a barricaded situation.

32 Adam, responding to a 911 call, interrupted two individuals in the process of stealing a car. Upon being ordered to surrender, they fired upon the officers and retreated into the main building. Precise numbers are unknown, but patrol reports seeing at least 4 individuals, all male. They're armed, and we believe some of them have machine guns. In addition, they have a hostage in there with them: Gary Altman. Altman is a mechanic for Victory Imports, and was apparently working late. He's the one who placed the initial 911 call, which was cut off short. Further attempts to contact him have failed.

We don't have a positive ID on the suspects at this time. Patrol reports seeing young men, late teens to early twenties, light skinned, wearing street clothes; jeans and shirts -- but we don't have sufficient evidence to confirm any specifics. As far as M.O. goes, this particular theft is a new one. No local garages have reported similar raids. Looks like we get to nip this one in the bud.

Patrol attempted to call them out, and got no response other than scattered gunfire. However, once the negotiators contacted them, they were more willing to talk. They've requested food and body armor; both requests have been denied since they're either unwilling or unable to free Altman. At 0330, the suspects issued an ultimatum demanding to be allowed to go free.  Further communications with the suspects have gotten shorter and more strident. Negotiations are at an impasse, and they're concerned for Altman's safety, since it looks like the suspects are getting desperate. Time for us to end the standoff.

Entries and Snipers[]

The auto center offers two entry points, one is insertion via helicopter to the roof top while another is sneaking in via the underground parking area at the basement. The roof entry area will be cleared of suspects at first, but the commotion will mostly likely attract suspects within minutes, while the parking area may already be patrolled by multiple suspects at the beginning of the mission.

Due to the vast basement area and not many windows on first floor, there is no sniper support in this mission.

Map Layout[]

The intel provided on this map is mostly accurate in describing the layout of the entire map, although the details on the clutters that divides the offices, the workshops and the parking lot are omitted. The roof top is also not mentioned in the intel due to the fact it was under the control of the SWAT team at the start of the mission.

As the name suggests this building is a car workshop with two floors plus the roof. The ground floor of Victory Imports is designed for offices, reception area and customer lounge. In front of the main entrance at side 3 is a cash desk and waiting room with vending machines and arcade games where customers could wait for their repaired cars as well as to buy auto parts. Behind the cash desk is an office and a break room with kitchen appliances at side 2, while the waiting room will lead into a hallway and another office that connects and overlooks a workshop in the basement at side 4. There is also a set of stairs that leads to both the basement and to the roof located across from the break room at side 1. The basement floor consists mainly of workshops and underground parking spaces and it has two entrances - both of them are driveways from the street. In the underground parking area at side 3 there are several cars that are waiting for repairs, along with a chain link fenced tire storage area and a scene of a recent firefight. There are three workshops behind the underground parking spaces and all of them are connected with each other and filled with car repair appliances and tools. At the back of the workshops in the basement level is a long hallway at side 1 that connects the workshops with a small office, a toilet and a auto part storage area along with the stairs that leads back to the break room and the roof.

Tactical Approach[]

Suspects on this map are armed with pistols and machine pistols, but are not equiped with any protections. Given the tight nature of the map and the possbility of exchanging fires with suspects on the stairway, it is advisable to take weapons that have a short length like the MP5A4 SMG.

The choice of entry depends on whether the player wants to go loud and fast or quiet and slow. The roof top access will give the player immediate control and access to both the first floor and the basement, at the cost of a guaranteed encounter with suspects in or around the stairway area during entry. The underground parking entrance will allow the player to slowly clear out rooms one by one, at the cost of funneling a large number of suspects into hard to clear dead ends such as the roof top.

Assuming the player enters from the roof top, the rough order of clearing is to take control the stairway at side 2, then clear out the top floor to take control of the two level workshop at side 4, then clear out the rooms in the basement, and finally clear the underground parking spaces. The order of clearing will be reversed if the player choose the underground parking entry.

There is a chain link fenced area in the underground parking area. Despite its appearence, the chain link fences acts as a soild wall which blocks all bullets, shouts and AI sightlines. Player can treat and clear out the area like a regular room.

Changes in Elite Force[]

  • The incapacitated mechanic located in the underground parking lot can bleed out and become DOA if not reported in time, which results in forfeiting the "All civilians unharmed" score bonus.
  • Suspects now have a 50% chance to spawn as low skilled, as oppose to a 25% chance in the vanillia game. They also start to carry the Desert Eagle pistol.
  • Gary Altman now has a 5% chance to suffer cardiac arrest.
  • This mission unlocks the beanbag variant of Benelli Nova and Remington M870 shotguns.

Trivia[]

  • This is the only level featured in the demo version of SWAT 4.
  • One of the arcade games in the waiting room is "SWAT: Urban Justice", the original sequel to SWAT 3, before being cancelled and becoming SWAT 4.
  • The lighting contrast between the roof top and the rest of the map suggests that the SWAT team started the operation in late night and finished clearing the building at dawn. However, given the lack of day/night transition in the game, it will always be late night outside of the roof tops area.
  • According to the comments in the game code, this mission originally takes place in a repo depot.
